Compassion Counselling Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

In using the Contact Me form on my website, you will be providing me with information that I then have a responsibility to handle in accordance with the law. Any information you share with me via this form will be used solely to provide you with details of how to contact me for an initial assessment session, or of a possible alternative service if mine is not appropriate for your needs. The legal basis for collecting this personal data is to enable me to decide if my service is suitable for your needs, and to communicate with you about this. If we do not decide to work together, or I refer you elsewhere, I will delete the message within one month.

The information given to me via my Contact Me form will not be shared with any other party, with the possible exception of my clinical supervisor, in the event that I need clinical advice about whether to accept you as a client. In this case, my clinical supervisor will hold this information as strictly confidential.

If we do work together, you will be provided with my separate Privacy Policy for ongoing work, to allow you to explicitly give your consent for me to hold information about you, and with clear details about how and why this information will be stored.

Security of information

The transmission of information through the internet is never completely secure. Although I will do my best to protect your personal data, I cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to my site and any transmission is at your own risk. Once I have received your information, I will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. I would suggest not sending highly sensitive information by email or over the internet. I have an encrypted email account. You would also need an encrypted email account in order for correspondence to be encrypted. I can provide you with details of how to obtain a free encrypted email account for this purpose upon request.

Rights of the Individual

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Your rights include:

• The right of access

• The right to rectification

• The right to erasure

• The right to restrict processing

• The right of data portability

• The right to object

If you would like to exercise any of your rights as any time, you can inform me verbally or in writing. I will respond to your request within one month.
